Persephone Lives!

Hey Ghosts, Strangers, and prodigal offspring!

The Offspring.

Smash it up.

I liked them a whole lot in third grade. Thought they were pretty fly...where is my mind?

After my long and silent interval, dormant, even... two things.

First, this;

A fifteen-track gem made by a mad genius. A three-fold-five-fold-adonis-homunculous. Daughter to an eight-track-body-computer mind. Son to Orpheus-Eno-Faustus. Sounds scary, huh? Psh, yeah! Scary good! Let it's many-hyphenates buzz down your ear canals. For free! I know I'm too good to you.

kissed her little sister - HIGH AND LOW - http://kissedherlittlesister.bandcamp.com/

Second? I second that! HAW!

Remember how we mixed a persephone mix ? Well one of us did. And it rules. Jeff Morisano gave us twelve songs to sing , which actually quite faithfully reference the mythology. Shut the eff up. I know! Stuff that in your cochlea. That...sounds gross. Just...just listen to it. It's good.

Aye, but here's the rub. I want more mix.

"But dipshit, you were gone for like four months and nary a word!" you say, and to that I exclaim "That don't make no nevermind to me, you collective poopers-of-pant!"

Alright, I apologize. And for insulting your continence just now. My bad. I overstep my bounds. I have been away a while. But who notices these things. Mainly, I need more mixes, they are life's blood. And we all need live's blood, I mean, don't we? Are you with me? Yes! I knew I could count on you! I can, can't I? Are you there? God? It's me, Colin...

Music To Counteract Rainy Day Doldrums

Hey Hey Hey!

Hey guess what?

No Votes, No votes, (sung in the style of Cake, to the tune of their hit, "No Phone")

Do you know what this means? It means I leave it to Fate. Fate, in the guise of that most unfeeling of randomization tools, the six-sided die. I have attached a numerical value to each of this week's mixes by rolling the die, and I shall roll to determine the outcome.

Drum-roll....

This week's Mixmaster mix is the product of ... Matt Lefferts!
All hail this weeks Mixmaster! Keep up the good work Matt!

Matt chose a heck of an opener, Stevie Wonder's "I Believe When I fall In Love"
which takes hope and turns it into jubilant funk. I might have swore at myself for leaving it out of my mix, but it appears we were of like mind on "Jungle" by Electric light orchestra. Great minds, truly. Here's the rest of the mix;

"Music To Counteract Rainy Day Doldrums."

01. I believe When I Fall in Love - Stevie Wonder
02. Jungle - ELO
03. Pick Up The Pieces - Average White Band
04. I Zimbra - Talking Heads
05. Close Behind - Calexico
06. Walk Of Life - Dire Straits
07. Once Chance - Modest Mouse
08. Lasso - Pheonix
09. Pillar of Salt - The Thermals
10. Little Cream Soda - The White Stripes

Only ten you say? What about the rules? Well, tough noogies, the fates have spoken!

I had a lot of fun listening to the mixes you all suggested. In my music nook. With my steel headphones plugged into the Hi-Fi . In my bean bag chair. On the shag... moving on. I hope some listening was done on your end somewhere, to something, preferably some of the previously mentioned tracks.

Another week of Mixing and listening is yet to come! Are you excited? Heck, I just wet myself!

Then, at last, they lifted up the sky and let the roaring starlight in

Hey Folks! So this week's Mixmaster mix is the product of ... me. It's a dreamy little stretch of 12 songs by good people. It gets chaotic at times, but I can imagine sitting on a picnic blanket under a yawning expanse of twilight, maybe in a letterman jacket, with these tunes flowing out of my...let's say...Camaro, and feeling like my experience was musically enriched. That's something, I guess.

"Then, at last, they lifted up the sky and let the roaring starlight in."

01. Men Together Today - British Sea Power
02. Home Life - Shearwater
03. Night Walks - Black Mountain
04. Dark Matter - Andrew Bird
05. Bird Gerhl - Antony & The Johnsons
06. Hellhole Ratrace - Girls
07. Of The Mountains - Dan Deacon
08. Apocalyptic Friend - Eef Barzelay
09. Phantom Anthills - Chad VanGaalen
10. Army Of Ancients - Dr. Dog
11. Static/Diamond Bollocks - Beck
12. Woods - Bon Iver

Since there were no mixes or themes suggested this past round, I have to find some way of generating a random theme. With the help of Google. Or my bookshelf. Or Headlines.

Without Further hoodo, this week's Theme is :
"Music to counteract rainy day doldrums"
